We look forward to seeing most everyone this Sunday at brunch. We have lots of merit badges and a few ranks to award! See you there!
Scott
Congratulations to our boat race champion Chase! It was an interesting race with lots of lessons learned as part of our Project Planning program feature.
Next Tuesday we will have elections for Order of the Arrow. We are asking all scouts to attend to participate in these elections. We must have at least half of our active scouts present in order for the election to take place, so your attendance is important!

A reminder that the scouts are doing a boat race this Tuesday to wrap up their Project Planning program feature for January. As communicated last week, scouts should prepare their boats ahead of time and bring them ready to race on Tuesday.
The simple rules that the scouts established are: it must float, it must have a sail, and it can only be powered by breath. Also, the finished boat must be 3- 1/4" (the width of the hull) to 3-1/2” wide in order to properly fit in the track. Please reply if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Scoutmaster Scott
We survived winter camp! Thanks to everyone who helped make it possible. For those scouts who took home frozen, wet tents, please bring them back once they have had a chance to thaw and dry. (We know it might be a few weeks until that is possible.)
Next week our scouts will complete this month’s program feature of Project Planning with a raingutter regatta where they will evaluate their boat building plans. Scouts should bring completed boats with them to the meeting according to the simple rules that they established: it must float, it must have a sail, and it can only be powered by breath. We have invited the nearby Cub Scout Pack to attend and/or participate as well. It should be fun!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with Jeremy Morris at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor this past Saturday. I’m looking forward to Eagle Scout celebrations with some of our current Life scouts in the near future.
This weekend is winter camp at Pipsico! We will meet at the church in Class A uniform at 6pm this Friday and depart shortly thereafter. Dinner will not be provided on Friday; scouts need to eat before they arrive or otherwise bring food with them. Scouts also need to bring money for lunch on Monday as we are likely to stop somewhere shortly after departing camp. We plan to return to the church around 2pm. The full winter camp guide is here: Full winter camp guide and schedule: https://pipsicobsa.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/WinterCampLG-25.pdf
Please pay attention to the weather forecast for this weekend. Rain is expected and temperatures will drop on Sunday night; Be Prepared and plan accordingly. Also, please note that Pipsico has advised that scouts should not have phones at any program sessions. The trading post and snack shack will be open; bring cash if you want plan to make purchases. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Thank you,
Scott Guirlinger
Happy new year everyone!
We will celebrate Jeremy Morris achieving his Eagle Rank this Saturday at noon at the church. The formal ceremony will be in the sanctuary followed by a reception lunch in the social hall. I hope all of you can attend. Please share this event with any Troop 5 alumni as well.
Winter camp is just 10 days away. Now is the time to double check your cold weather clothing and gear and make sure it’s ready to go and do its job of keeping you warm. Most meals are provided as part of this council event; scouts should plan to eat before arriving at the church on Friday (Jan 17) and bring money for lunch on the way home on Monday (Jan 20).
Scouts looking to earn a rank advancement at our Scout Sunday court of honor on February 9th should have their requirements and scoutmaster conferences completed no later than winter camp so that boards of review can be scheduled alongside the January committee meeting on the 21st.
We’ve got lots of fun events and outings planned for this year. Keep an eye out for more information and for RSVP forms. There are some things that we need to plan well in advance, particularly in the summertime. If you have not yet RSVP’d for our ski trip or for summer camp, please do that here now.
